Dentures
An important step in maintaining a healthy smile is to replace missing teeth. When teeth are missing, the remaining ones can change position, drifting into the surrounding space. Teeth that are out of position can damage tissues in the mouth. In addition, it may be difficult to clean thoroughly between crooked teeth. As a result, you run the risk of tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease, which can lead to the loss of additional teeth and overall poor health.
There are two types of removable dentures as an option to replace missing teeth.
Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture may be used for replacing one or more missing teeth. In cases of missing teeth in multiple areas in your mouth, it will fill out your smile and help prevent a sagging face by providing support for your lips and cheeks. Partial dentures can also help with chewing food properly and improving speech.
Full Dentures
Full dentures replace all natural teeth and provides support for cheeks and lips. Without this support, sagging facial muscles can make a person appear older. By replacing missing teeth, full dentures improve your ability to speak and eat.
